Medicare's Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program for hospitals, physicians and other health care providers are auditors, who seek to identify under- and overpayments to providers in return for a portion of the money they recover. RACs will earn a contingency fee of between 9 and 12.5 percent for identifying improper Medicare payments
